I. Background

The subject matter and data presented in this post today is related to at least four Dredd Blog series (The World According To Measurements, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22; On Thermal Expansion & Thermal Contraction, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41; Beyond Fingerprints: Sea Level DNA, 2; and Countries With Sea Level Change, 2, 3).

If you have not delved into the thermal expansion and contraction hypothesis (TEACH) in the current oceanography doctrine of some scientists, you may not be aware of the issue I take with it (The Bathtub Model Doesn't Hold Water, 2, 3, 4, 5).

My criticism of that hypothesis is that it claims that "most" sea level rise (SLR) in the 20th century was caused by thermal expansion.

That "most" percentage has gone from over half in the original claim, down to one third lately.

Yes, even as the oceans continue to warm the proponents of that hypothesis are backtracking by decreasing their claim.

I have always maintained that thermal expansion and contraction has always been a minor part of SLC, so today's post furnishes measurements so that you can measure their hypothesis (and wonder who would want to blame it on the Sun rather than blaming it on Humble Oil-Qaeda).

II. Only Countries With SLC Are Relevant

The Appendix to this post (Appendix-World According To Measurements - 23) details both thermosteric impacts and Cryosphere impacts on SLC in countries with:
1) tide gauge stations,
2) more than one "Coastline Code."
(Some of the significance of using  Coastline Codes is discussed here).

The TEACH hypothesis is one of the results of the "bathtub myth model" (BMM) which holds that the ocean is like a bathtub so that when melt water is added to it the oceans rise uniformly everywhere like a bathtub does when water is added to it.

The graphics at Fig. 1, Fig. 2, and Fig. 3 show how utterly falsified that hypothesis is.

This file is the Appendix to: The World According to Measurements - 23

This file presents the thermosteric sea level change (tsSlc)
as well as the sea level change (SLC) caused by the melting
and calving of glaciers and ice sheets.

Records are obtained from two sources:

1) PSMSL (ground-based coastal tide gauge data);
2) WOD (seawater in situ measurements at various depths).

The span of years within which the records were obtained
varies. That is, they do not always cover the same span of
time.

Additionally, WOD Zones can overlap Coastal Code Areas
and vice versa at some of the boundaries.

So, a millimeters-per-year value is also calculated to give
a better understanding of the impact that ocean heat content
has on the ocean's volume, compared to the impact that
melting ice and glacial calving has on the ocean's mass,
because both cause SLC.

My First Science Fiction Novel

Right Stag Fire

I. Preface

Once upon time on a planet where substantial numbers of the population were unaware of where they were, tragic events took place which resulted in the deaths of billions of people there.

It started like this:

In the year of their lord, 2019, despotic minorities outfoxed the majorities, then grabbed power in the USA and Israel.

They badmouthed Islam and became aggressive toward those of that faith, even to the point of annexing the property of other countries, moving embassies to Jerusalem, and the like.

Islamic radicals, it was said (a la the Reich-stag fire narrative), infiltrated a construction crew at a Christian Cathedral in Paris, then surreptitiously started a fire which caused massive destruction to the Cathedral.

Others said that the fire was actually started by USA & Israeli authoritarian operatives just so they could increase their authoritarian objectives.

In retaliation for that fire, the authoritarians seized the Dome of The Rock Mosque in Jerusalem, then had their way with it.
