On The Origin of Genieology - 5

It's not just a movie anymore

Once upon a time Dredd Blog was banned from commenting on the "Small Things Considered" blog by an advocate of artificial plasmids ('Christoph') who has now passed away:

"Artificial plasmids are widely used as vectors in molecular cloning, serving to drive the replication of recombinant DNA sequences within host organisms. In the laboratory, plasmids may be introduced into a cell via transformation. Synthetic plasmids are available for procurement over the internet."

(Wikipedia). My position in comments was essentially that Dr. Frankenstein should remain a science fiction character.

My banning, as it turns out, could be a badge of honor:

"Laboratory-made plasmids, a workhorse of modern biology, have problems. Researchers performed a systematic assessment of the circular DNA structures by analysing more than 2,500 plasmids produced in labs and sent to a company that provides services such as packaging the structures inside viruses so they can be used as gene therapies. The team found that nearly half of the plasmids had design flaws, including errors in sequences crucial to expressing a therapeutic gene."

(Serious errors plague DNA tool that’s a workhorse of biology). Over the past few years Dredd Blog has pointed out the plausibility of that being the case or worse (e.g. On The Origin of Genieology, 2, 3, 4; The Doll As Metaphor, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8; Small Brains Considered, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18).

Not to mention SARS-Cov-2  (The Origin Of The Home Of COVID-19, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35) which is still 'happening' according to health officials "SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate at high levels around the world" (World Health Organization, emphasis added).

In that series about COVID-19 I hypothesized that it would stay around until they figured out that it comes from the realms of "the mass production of animals for for industry" and the Dr. Frankensteins of the 'genieology' world.

The "It Can't Happen Here" Trance

Don't Go There

In the Dredd Blog series about The Despotic Minority (How To Identify The Despotic Minority, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) it was pointed out that historically civilizations "go down" by the actions of minority within a culture that is overcome with, among other things, the "It Can't Happen Here" trance.

"I am shocked" is a statement that was made in a lot of venues yesterday.

It was so yesterday:

"Meanwhile, the ongoing impeachment is a fundamental act of resistance to The Despotic Minority (How To Identify The Despotic Minority, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) which has injected itself into the American Bloodstream (like toxoplasma gondii).

But, contrary to the It Can't Happen Here Trance (Choose Your Trances Carefully, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8), it has already happened."
