  1. For all you Mommas who may not want your boys to grow up to be cowboys, the name "James Dwight [Your Last Name Here]" sounds real good.

  2. So does this mean there is nothing worth fighting for? or that militaries should be disbanded in times of "peace"?

    Or something else?

  3. Gerry,

James Madison laid it out as quoted in the post:

"In war, the honors and emoluments of office are to be multiplied; and it is the executive patronage under which they are to be enjoyed; and it is the executive brow they are to encircle.

The strongest passions and most dangerous weaknesses of the human breast; ambition, avarice, vanity, the honorable or venal love of fame, are all in conspiracy against the desire and duty of peace
    ."

How do you feel about the shadow changing the duty of peace into the scourge of war?

Weapons in the hands of some people equates to a dangerous situation, likewise, an army in the hands of some people equates to a dangerous situation.

The post also has links to quotes of General Eisenhower to that effect.

There is nothing more to say.
