The El Nino/La Nina Chronicles

There are more unknowns with the El Nino and La Nina episodes than meet the eye.

Yes, El Nino is an uptick and La Nina is a down-tick (Fig. 1), but why?

Don't ask don't tell:

(The Mystery of El Niño).  "Mystery" is one way of saying "the research is ongoing" I suppose (In Search Of Ocean Heat, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22).

WOD in situ measurements (temperature, salinity, etc.) is my source for calculating potential enthalpy (ho) to be used in analyzing the many El Nino, La Nina hypotheses.

And then showing them to Dredd Blog readers.

Today's appendices contain graphs which show those measurements presented from WOD zones between 30 degrees North Latitude, down to 30 degrees South Latitude (Fig. 2).

The technique is to show all Pelagic depths in WOD layers 6 - 11 (Appendix 1), then also show each individual Pelagic depth with only one graph line color (Appendices 2 - 6) for each of those same WOD layers.

By "Pelagic" depth I mean:

(Pelagic Zones). The appendices (Appendix 1, Appendix 2, Appendix 3, Appendix 4, Appendix 5, Appendix 6) give no certain confirmation of the patterns shown in Fig. 1, but there are some details that are interesting.

Note that the data being grafted details potential enthalpy (ho) averages from the WOD zones in each layer graphed.

When a line has a drop in it (lower ho quantity) at any depth level, it means that photons were spontaneously emitted from atoms in seawater at that depth in those zones pursuant to the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

If the atmosphere just above the surface becomes cooler than the seawater it is in contact with, 'saturated' atoms in the warm water will emit photons into that atmospheric area to cause it to become warmer.  When temperature equilibrium is reached the photon emissions will cease.

Likewise, if an ocean layer's water at the depth just above another layer becomes cooler or warmer than the seawater it is in contact with, photons from the warmer seawater will be emitted into the cooler seawater until temperature equilibrium is reached or the 'saturation' ceases (The Saturation Chronicles, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20).

This is true for all of the oceans and depths, so remember that changes in graph line direction means that the photon current is responsible (The Photon Current, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 , 17, 18, 19, 20, 21).

It may be difficult to exactly resolve the patterns in Fig. 1 with the graphs, but you can be sure that the Second Law of Thermodynamics is relevant.
