The IPCC Record on Global Warming Temperature Projections - 4

"The Earth is Cooling"
This is the fourth episode of this series (The IPCC Record on Global Warming Temperature Projections, 2, 3).

In previous posts of this series, and in other posts on the subject of IPCC reports, Dredd Blog bemoaned the lack of being able to grasp the real situation.

Dredd Blog advocated that the less-than-real rhetoric concerning global warming induced climate change should be dispensed with:

"The IPCC is a well known report, but fewer people know about another government climate change report required by federal law (Government Climate Change Report, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Today I want to discuss a common scientific error that has led us astray for a century (Dr. Mitrovica).

"The Earth is Burning"
That error makes its way into every climate change report which includes sea level change (at least every official report I know of).

For example, the promiscuous use of "global mean average sea level" (GMSL) is the error I am talking about (it's the mother of invention of "the bathtub model")."

(The IPCC Record on Global Warming Temperature Projections - 3). Well, here we are with a stark contrast with earlier versions.

Here we are with a link to the Sixth Report, which is beginning to tell it like it is (AR6 Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis).

"Mr. Blue Sky" still metaphorically says there is "not a cloud in the sky" in the video below, while the reality seems closer to How To Enjoy The End Of Bad Choices.

The previous post in this series is here.

  1. I've already found several errors in the Sixth Report. Started on a blog post partially titled "Garbage" because that's what I think this report will be, garbage. They didn't even get the present C02 level right. I know that this process takes a few years, but to make it relevant and meaningful, they could have at least gotten THAT correct, but failed.

They also said “Land and ocean have taken up a near-constant proportion (globally about 56% per year) of CO2 emissions from human activities over the past six decades, with regional differences.”

Uh, no. Not anymore and not for a while. The rate of absorption has been slowing down. Some "regions" are now emitting more carbon then they absorb. How could they have missed that?

Frankly, I am not at all surprised that the Sixth Report is following the same path as all the others, too little, too late, incorrect assessments and failed predictions. Their worse-case scenario is happening now (already). They still seem unwilling to break the reticence of the past. I'm not impressed.

Where is the declaration of a global climate emergency? What are they waiting for? More dead?

The IPCC is politically controlled and they're doing the same things they've always done, downplay the real-world effects and make ridiculous inaccurate predictions (such as the claims about once in a hundred year events will now occur once per dozen years, when these are already happening EVERY year NOW).

It's like they just can't bring themselves to tell it like it already is - and what this actually means going forward. It will NEVER get "better" under any "scenario" for the next several human lifetimes at a minimum. Anyone who has studied this carefully knows this.

  3. "A viral image of a 1912 newspaper clip circulating on social media claims scientists have known for more than a century that coal consumption can have a negative effect on climate" (Yahoo News).

How much has the U.S. Government learned over "more than a century" since that newspaper article?

"Coal was the third-largest energy source for U.S. electricity generation in 2020—about 19%." (US Energy Information Administration)?
