Life According To Science

This post has been moved to the Ecocosmology blog.

  1. From Sign 'O' the Times by Prince:

Hurricane Annie ripped the ceiling of a church and killed everyone inside

You turn on the telly and every other story is tellin' you somebody died

A sister killed her baby 'cuz she couldn't afford to feed it

And yet we're sending people to the moon

  2. NASA makes no bones about looking for a new home fit for human habitation.

  3. Anonymous,

Kepler blasted off into space looking for new human habitations ... since the Sun will eventually destroy this planet.

  4. I found a blog with a david ho painting that reminds me of humanity looking for another star via the Kepler probe:

Catch a Star by David Ho ...

  5. The reason the David Ho painting is so interesting is that humanity, especially the US during Bush II, was like The Borg.

And current statistics are grim for avoiding disaster:

"The world's best efforts at combating climate change are likely to offer no more than a 50-50 chance of keeping temperature rises below the threshold of disaster, according to research from the UK Met Office." (Independent).
