The Mythology Of Hope

When President Elect Obama went to the White House to visit Bush II hope was in the air.

The bubble had burst on every major policy of the neoCon bushies.

The political landscape looked like it was the aftermath of a massive destructive force.

The Audacity of Hope had charisma and the future could be seen as light at the end of the tunnel.

We were sure we were going to move out of the tunnel and into the light of day once again.

But that light at the end of the tunnel began to move further away as it began to dawn on those of us in the greater majority who voted for Obama, that he seemed to have been given a compass that led to all the wrong places Bush II had already been and polluted.

Now that light is a pinhole, and we seem to be going backwards.

The main stream media is all over the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, as one of the larger circulation newspapers shouts:
'Everybody's lost hope'

"Everybody's lost hope," said councilman Jay LaFont of Grand Isle, La., where beaches and its fishing industry were closed because of the spill. "As long as you have something to look forward to, a little glimmer of hope, you can move on. But this just drained everything out of us."
(USA Today). This comes at a time when U.S. citizens have had their fill of endless war, massive financial failures, millions losing homes and jobs, inept government, and loss of reputation in the world at large.

The Attorney General has been sent to sniff out crime at the disaster scene, but we have already seen Holder's heart too.

He let AIG off so BP will not soon be shaking in their boots.

  1. There's now growing suspicion out there that BP might not even be addressing the primary leak. The suspicion is that the riser got displaced while the rig went down and drug 5-6 miles from the well head. If so, that explains why the observed oil spill is much bigger than the observed oil leak at the site of BP's efforts, and means that BP is largely spinning their wheels altogether with current efforts.

The pressure also grows to bring in supertankers to start skimming off the mess in an immediate effort at on site remediation. It's beginning to look like BP is in over their head and/or dragging their feet in their own financial/PR best interests on this one. It's even beginning to be conceivable that a military nuclear detonation might yet be required to seal the hole if all else fails. Who'd a thunk that? Might give nuclear arms new brand cachet after all these years!

  2. Fools rush in ...

The "nukuliar option" is a reaction red-necks tend to have to solve most any problem, including gas leaks and piles of garbage in the trailer park.

See Vision - Nip It In The Twirl concerning using "nukuliar" on hurricanes for example.

It is a knee jerk reaction showing the bankruptcy of vision, bankruptcy of technical prowess, and bankruptcy of safety abilities MOMCOM brings to the table.

People who live in the mountains of California around Big Bear know the effects of underground nuclear detonations on earthquake faults. They can trigger (not cause) widespread destruction, and have done so.

The government and scientists have not yet studied the growing pressures the increasing ocean levels will have on oil and gas deposits as pointed out in Is A New Age Of Pressure Upon Us.

After all, he cause of this disaster was because unknown and unusual pressures arising from deep in the crust blew it away.

I am not surprised at the retrograde thinking, it is typical of addicts who are threatened with a loss of their "stuff".

The post about Oilah Akbar! Oilah Akbar! has forsaken them (in their oil fogged brains), when actually they have forsaken Prevention, the only way to fly.

They are going retrograde all the way back to Vietnam where villages were destroyed in order to save them, so now Destroy The Gulf In Order To Save It is typical retro drug induced delusion.

If they do go berserk and the nuke exokisuib "domes the earth above it" as usual, expect a huge Tsunami to clean the beaches by pushing the oil a mile or so inland, and perhaps cracks aplenty in the crust all the way down to the oil pool producing a hundred more leaks with orders of magnitude more oil.

Then we can talk about life without civilization being accelerated by decades.
