Sun Gives New Meaning To Hot Wars - 2

This is a repost of a Dredd Blog post two years ago on this very date:
A recent post discusses the concerns military folk have about the likelihood that global climate change will lead to more wars.

From the perspective of James Madison, this means that the Mother of All Enemies has joined forces with nature against us.

To top that off, a new report has just been released, which says that is only the half of it, i.e., the Sun and El Nino are back into the equation:
The world faces record-breaking temperatures as the sun's activity increases, leading the planet to heat up significantly faster than scientists had predicted for the next five years, according to a study.

The hottest year on record was 1998, and the relatively cool years since have led to some global warming sceptics claiming that temperatures have levelled off or started to decline. But new research firmly rejects that argument.

The research, to be published in Geophysical Research Letters, was carried out by Judith Lean, of the US Naval Research Laboratory, and David Rind, of Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

The work is the first to assess the combined impact on global temperature of four factors: human influences such as CO2 and aerosol emissions; heating from the sun; volcanic activity and the El Niño southern oscillation, the phenomenon by which the Pacific Ocean flips between warmer and cooler states every few years.
(Guardian). The ice packs will be changed, and ocean levels will be too.

And that means a natural impact on national economies which could be huge.

A new discovery, which will cause many more scientific textbooks to head for the great shredder in the sky, indicates that there is 3 times more carbon dioxide in permafrost than was previously calculated, meaning that the cycle will feed on itself causing acceleration.
So, was Dredd Blog looking ahead for Dredd Blog readers or what!
