The Mayan god of suicide was "Ixtab," which is translated "Rope Woman."

In Yucatec society, under certain circumstances, suicide, especially suicide by hanging, was considered an honorable way to die (Flip Flop history of roping it).

In current civilization honor seems to be the big thing with those who have the means to commit omnicide (the suicide of society) for us all.

That would be the military honor squads that at this very moment have enough nuclear weaponry locked and loaded to destroy human civilization at the push of a button.

The next best source of honor is Oil-Qaeda, the most profitable capitalist killing machine on the planet.

Their officials sit on the boards of many a corporation who supply the military with their products, and are the major source of war (The Peak Of The Oil Wars - 11).

This cultural structure persists because of the social trance that current civilization has developed (Comparing a Group-Mind Trance to a Cultural Amygdala).

Thus, "You Are Here" is an incomprehensible and troubling statement to many in current civilization.

At least in terms of doing something about severe problems facing us (Civilization Is Now On Suicide Watch - 3).

That is probably because of the self-righteous view that we are the best civilization ever:

Historically, self-destruction is the common denominator for past human civilization, culture, and society:
