Civilization Is Now On Suicide Watch - 5

You are not up there, you are down here
If you think the statement that "civilization is now on suicide watch" is unreal, then you are a nutbag, kook, out of touch, hopeamine / hopium addict, not to mention being without a clue.

Scientists @ the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has moved the doomsday clock to three minutes until midnight.

What three minutes to midnight means is that ~95% of the cushion between lights out for civilization and security for civilization, has been used up, and there is only ~5% remaining (5% is optimistic; it could be less than 1% on an annual scale).

In previous posts in this series (Civilization Is Now On Suicide Watch, 2, 3, 4) I have focused on the creeping danger of nuclear war, together with the screaming danger of climate catastrophe.

According to the atomic scientists, those are the two main reasons the hands on the doomsday clock have moved from 5 minutes to 3 minutes until lights out for human civilization:
In 2015, unchecked climate change, global nuclear weapons modernizations, and outsized nuclear weapons arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats to the continued existence of humanity, and world leaders have failed to act with the speed or on the scale required to protect citizens from potential catastrophe. These failures of political leadership endanger every person on Earth.

The science is clear: Insufficient action to slash worldwide emissions of greenhouse gases can produce global climatic catastrophe. Even a

so-called “limited” nuclear weapons exchange will produce massive casualties and severe effects on the global environment. We implore the political leaders of the world to take coordinated, quick action to drastically reduce global emissions of heat-trapping gases, especially carbon dioxide, and shrink nuclear weapons arsenals.

We also implore the citizens of the world to demand action from their leaders. The threat looms over all of humanity. Humanity needs to respond now, while there is still time.
(Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, emphasis added). When are we going to realize that we are involuntarily part of a Suicide-Murder Pact (MOMCOM's Mass Suicide & Murder Pact, 2, 3, 4, 5) while suffering from a cultural trance not unlike Stockholm Syndrome (Stockholm Syndrome on Steroids?, 2)?

I will not stop warning of these things because I do not want us to commit suicide or to be murdered by Oil-Qaeda.

Those not part of the solution state of mind are part of the murder and suicide state of mind.

If possible, let's stop Oil-Qaeda in their tracks.

Agnotology: The Surge - 15

I. Introduction

The king of American Agnotology, as it regards climate change (Senator Inhofe), informed us that global warming is the "greatest hoax" ever.

In the previous post of this series, Dredd Blog pointed out that people voted king Inhofe's assertion to be the biggest lie of 2014.

The democrats in the Senate forced a vote on these issues, using several amendments to a bill working its way through the legislative process:
It is nearly 27 years now since a Nasa scientist testified before the US Senate that the agency was 99% certain that rising global [average temperatures] were caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

And the Senate still has not got it – based on the results of three symbolic climate change votes on Wednesday night.

The Senate voted virtually unanimously that climate change is occurring and not, as some Republicans have said, a hoax – but it defeated two measures attributing its causes to human activity.

Unless Senators are prepared to acknowledge the causes of climate change, it is likely they will remain unable and unwilling to do anything about it.

Democrats had planned the symbolic, “sense of the Senate” votes as a way of exposing the Republicans’ increasingly embarrassing climate change denial.
(Guardian, emphasis added). Thus, the Republicans in control in the U.S. Senate ignorantly hold that there is nothing we humans can do, one way or another, about global warming induced climate change, so "move along, nothing to see here folks."

II. The Agnotology of It All

Agnotology is the study of ignorance generators within a society, the study of entities which misinform, propagandize, or otherwise generate ignorance in the public consciousness and/or the public subconsciousness.

The Senate is now part of those ignorance generating institutions in American culture, and is fully teamed up with Oil-Qaeda.

The Democrats are also generating ignorance, because they know that being number one in very crude oil extraction is an imminent danger to society (Government Climate Change Report, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Yet, democrats brag about being number one in the crude oil extraction business that is bringing danger to all living things on this planet we find ourselves on (You Are Here).

III. How Come Dis?

"How could this happen?" must be on a lot of people's minds, because what has been touted as the greatest debating institution of all governing bodies on Earth is becoming daft and absurd.

IV. The Snaky Trail of Oil-Qaeda

Regular readers know that Dredd Blog has chronicled and tracked the snaky trail of Oil-Qaeda, a criminal enterprise that created this lethal legacy over a century or so span of time (e.g. Civilization Is Now On Suicide Watch, 2, 3, 4).

That Dredd Blog tracking includes how Oil-Qaeda misled government, how it caused civilization to put fossil fuels into its "lifeblood" --thereby becoming Petroleum Civilization (e.g. The Universal Smedley - 2, Viva Egypt - 2, The Peak Of The Oil Wars - 10, The Fleets & Terrorism Follow The Oil, The Peak of Sanity - 3).

V. End of The Trail: @The Doors of Epigovernment/Private Empire

The trail ends in our day and age, our time, with the saga of how Oil-Qaeda teamed up with vehicle manufacturers, banksters, and military oriented industry to become the Epigovernment (e.g. Epigovernment: The New Model, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10), a.k.a. The Private Empire (MOMCOM: The Private Parts, 2, 3, 4, 5), a.k.a. the corporate monster (e.g. Corp Germ > Corp Seed > Corp Monster, 2, 3, 4), and finally, according to the Supreme Five, a "person" with more right to impact public elections and debates than you or me (Citizens United v FEC).

VI. The Impact of Oil-Qaeda on Governance

The chief spokesperson for the Epigovernment is the U.S. President, because, at this time the mainstay strategy of Oil-Qaeda is to substantially harbor its vast power in the "United States."

In the most recent State of the Union Message, the president summed up that reality:
"The United States is on top of the world in terms of energy production, President Barack Obama said during his sixth State of the Union ... “We believed we could reduce our dependence on foreign oil and protect our planet,” he said during his Jan. 20 address. “And today, America is number one in oil and gas" ...
(Petroleum Civilization: The Final Chapter ..., emphasis added). The cultural trance created by oil addiction clearly emerged in the SOTU for all to see (Comparing a Group-Mind Trance to a Cultural Amygdala).

That cultural trance (which leads one to believe that it is cool to be the number one polluter and to be a prime leader in Oil-Qaeda, while destroying the basis of civilization, and all that without negative consequences) is psychotic (Choose Your Trances Carefully, 2).

The U.S. has become a plutocracy, with a plutonomy instead of a democratic economy (The Homeland: Big Brother Plutonomy, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

That we practice the dynamics of a feudal society is of no moment to them either (American Feudalism, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11).

VII. Conclusion: Dissent Will Not Shake Us From The Trance

No amount of dissent is a cure for psychopathy, no, it takes professional psychoanalysis followed with professional psychotherapy / treatment.

Unfortunately, there is no such treatment available, or in existence, for groups of this sort, as Freud intimated:
If the evolution of civilization has such a far reaching similarity with the development of an individual, and if the same methods are employed in both, would not the diagnosis be justified that many systems of civilization —— or epochs of it —— possibly even the whole of humanity —— have become neurotic under the pressure of the civilizing trends? To analytic dissection of these neuroses, therapeutic recommendations might follow which could claim a great practical interest. I would not say that such an attempt to apply psychoanalysis to civilized society would be fanciful or doomed to fruitlessness. But it behooves us to be very careful, not to forget that after all we are dealing only with analogies, and that it is dangerous, not only with men but also with concepts, to drag them out of the region where they originated and have matured. The diagnosis of collective neuroses, moreover, will be confronted by a special difficulty. In the neurosis of an individual we can use as a starting point the contrast presented to us between the patient and his environment which we assume to be normal. No such background as this would be available for any society similarly affected; it would have to be supplied in some other way. And with regard to any therapeutic application of our knowledge, what would be the use of the most acute analysis of social neuroses, since no one possesses power to compel the community to adopt the therapy? In spite of all these difficulties, we may expect that one day someone will venture upon this research into the pathology of civilized communities. [p. 39]

Men have brought their powers of subduing the forces of nature to such a pitch that by using them they could now very easily exterminate one another to the last man. They know this —— hence arises a great part of their current unrest, their dejection, their mood of apprehension. [p. 40]
(Civilization and Its Discontents, S. Freud, 1929, emphasis added). Thus, we are left to watch the catastrophe unfold, emanating from this lethal trance.

We are left to watch the political pundits, in their own well-honed trance, think and say that politics can cure these psychopaths.

We are left to watch other intellectuals, academics, activists, together with all manner of other well meaning individuals, labor under the illusion that current civilization is exceptional, unlike those that went down before us:
"In other words, a society does not ever die 'from natural causes', but always dies from suicide or murder --- and nearly always from the former, as this chapter has shown."
(A Study of History,  by Arnold J. Toynbee). Meanwhile, the reality is that long ago Oil-Qaeda chose a trance recklessly, a trance that only a catastrophe it can't handle can shake it out of.

In other words, too little and too late is the nature of its fate.

Petroleum Civilization: The Final Chapter (Confusing Life with Death) - 3

We must not take the remaining fossil fuels from the Earth where they were pronounced deadly and buried long ago.

So says the science and so says the math calculations (Leave Fossil Fuels Buried to Prevent Climate Change).

Nevertheless, "The United States is on top of the world in terms of energy production, President Barack Obama said during his sixth State of the Union ... “We believed we could reduce our dependence on foreign oil and protect our planet,” he said during his Jan. 20 address. “And today, America is number one in oil and gas" (Politifact, SOTU).

This is yet another declaration that the United States is doing what it should not be doing.

Not only that, it is yet another declaration that the United States is doing that obvious wrong "better" than any other nation because we are exceptional.

This is what makes people all over the world ask Americans travelling abroad some evolving questions:
In my long nomadic life, I’ve had the good fortune to live, work, or travel in all but a handful of countries on this planet. I’ve been to both poles and a great many places in between, and nosy as I am, I’ve talked with people all along the way. I still remember a time when to be an American was to be envied. The country where I grew up after World War II seemed to be respected and admired around the world for way too many reasons to go into here.

That’s changed, of course. Even after the invasion of Iraq in 2003, I still met people -- in the Middle East, no less -- willing to withhold judgment on the U.S. Many thought that the Supreme Court’s installation of George W. Bush as president was a blunder American voters would correct in the election of 2004. His return to office truly spelled the end of America as the world had known it. Bush had started a war, opposed by the entire world, because he wanted to and he could. A majority of Americans supported him. And that was when all the uncomfortable questions really began.

In the early fall of 2014, I traveled from my home in Oslo, Norway, through much of Eastern and Central Europe. Everywhere I went in those two months, moments after locals realized I was an American the questions started and, polite as they usually were, most of them had a single underlying theme: Have Americans gone over the edge? Are you crazy? Please explain.

Then recently, I traveled back to the “homeland.” It struck me there that most Americans have no idea just how strange we now seem to much of the world. In my experience, foreign observers are far better informed about us than the average American is about them. This is partly because the “news” in the American media is so parochial and so limited in its views both of how we act and how other countries think -- even countries with which we were recently, are currently, or threaten soon to be at war. America’s belligerence alone, not to mention its financial acrobatics, compels the rest of the world to keep close track of us. Who knows, after all, what conflict the Americans may drag you into next, as target or reluctant ally?

So wherever we expatriates settle on the planet, we find someone who wants to talk about the latest American events, large and small: another country bombed in the name of our “national security,” another peaceful protest march attacked by our increasingly militarized police, another diatribe against “big government” by yet another wannabe candidate who hopes to head that very government in Washington. Such news leaves foreign audiences puzzled and full of trepidation.
(The Life and Death of Bright Things - 2). Meanwhile, our military is having its way with other countries by playing other deadly games within their "sovereign" borders:
That blood-soaked episode was, depending on your vantage point, an ignominious end to a year that saw U.S. Special Operations forces deployed at near record levels, or an inauspicious beginning to a new year already on track to reach similar heights, if not exceed them.

During the fiscal year that ended on September 30, 2014, U.S. Special Operations forces (SOF) deployed to 133 countries -- roughly 70% of the nations on the planet -- according to Lieutenant Colonel Robert Bockholt, a public affairs officer with U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). This capped a three-year span in which the country’s most elite forces were active in more than 150 different countries around the world, conducting missions ranging from kill/capture night raids to training exercises. And this year could be a record-breaker. Only a day before the failed raid that ended Luke Somers life -- just 66 days into fiscal 2015 -- America’s most elite troops had already set foot in 105 nations, approximately 80% of 2014’s total.

Despite its massive scale and scope, this secret global war across much of the planet is unknown to most Americans. Unlike the December debacle in Yemen, the vast majority of special ops missions remain completely in the shadows, hidden from external oversight or press scrutiny. In fact, aside from modest amounts of information disclosed through highly-selective coverage by military media, official White House leaks, SEALs with something to sell, and a few cherry-picked journalists reporting on cherry-picked opportunities, much of what America’s special operators do is never subjected to meaningful examination, which only increases the chances of unforeseen blowback and catastrophic consequences.

(Tom Dispatch -Nick Turse, emphasis added). Why would it be appropriate for "a peace and life loving government" to be the number one in all things life and peace threatening and destroying?

Some Americans have cautioned about being so cavalier with death:
"Now I notice a very odd point. All other religions in the world, as far as I know them, are either nature religions, or anti-nature religions ... But here is something quite different. Here is something telling me - well, what? Telling me that I must never ... say that death does not matter."
(Essays on Theology and Ethics, C.S. Lewis, page 86). The title of today's post says it all ("Confusing Life with Death") doesn't it?

All The Darkness-Rising Words Saved Up For A Poem-Hole

I am addicted to words, constantly ferret them away
in anticipation. You cannot accuse me of not being prepared.
I am ready for anything. I can create an image faster than

just about anyone. And so, the crows blurring the tree line;
the sky’s light dimming and shifting; the Pacific cold and
impatient as ever: this is just the way I feel. Nothing more.

I could gussy up those crows, transform them
into something more formal, more Latinate, could use
the exact genus Corvus, but I won’t. Not today.

Like any addict, I, too, have limits. And I have written
too many elegies already. The Living have become
jealous of the amount I have written for the Dead.

So, leave the crows perched along the tree line
watching over us. Leave them be. The setting sun?
Leave it be. For God’s sake, what could be easier

in a poem about death than a setting sun? Leave it be.
Words cannot always help you, the old poet had taught
me, cannot always be there for you no matter how you

store them away with sharpened forethought.
Not the courier in his leather sandals, his legs dark and dirty
from the long race across the desert. Not the carrier

pigeon arriving with the news of another dead Caesar
and the request you present yourself. Nothing like that.
The telephone rings. Early one morning, the telephone rings

Dr. King Is Remembered - 2

Today, I want to repost the one that McTell News stays away from.

It is a court case brought by family members of Dr. King.

The jury found that rogue elements in the U.S. Government and local racists were responsible for his assassination.

Here is the post:

Yesterday was the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was born January 15, 1929.

The fact that conspiracies take place between members of government to carry out state crimes against democracy, crimes against the people, has been proven in courts of law.

One example it would be appropriate to mention on a day remembering Dr. King, would be IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF SHELBY COUNTY, TENNESSEE FOR THE THIRTIETH JUDICIAL DISTRICT AT MEMPHIS, where a jury verdict stated that the government participated in a conspiracy to kill Dr. King:
THE COURT: In answer to the question did Loyd Jowers participate in a conspiracy to do harm to Dr. Martin Luther King, your answer is yes. Do you also find that others, including governmental agencies, were parties to this conspiracy as alleged by the defendant? Your answer to that one is also yes ... Is that your verdict?

THE JURY: Yes (In unison).
(King v. Jowers, emphasis added). The assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a state crime against democracy.

Governments, including state governments of the United States, as well as the federal government, can and do commit crimes against the people.

As a nation degenerates these crimes are covered up and hidden, rather than being prosecuted as they are when a nation still has a healthy government.
