You might want to ask New Jersey about its poet laureate for an example.
Now Dredd Blog selects the poet laureate of MOMCOM to be Rimbaud (pronounced "Rambo" in southern literature sections along Highway 51).
More about that later, but first consider the tightrope world of any poet laureate.
The Dredd Blog theory is that the position of poet laureate was created because language is a habit (another Dredd Blog theory).
That is probably best illustrated by one section of another highway:
Oh God said to Abraham, “Kill me a son”(Highway 61, Revisited). There is an infamous bridge on Highway 61, as well as several famous one lane bridges along the way.
Abe says, “Man, you must be puttin’ me on”
God say, “No.” Abe say, “What?”
God say, “You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin’ you better run”
Well Abe says, “Where do you want this killin’ done?”
God says, “Out on Highway 61”
A lot of fights break out there, especially on those one-lane bridges, because "the poetry" naturally causes ideological clashes:
First, "By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac." The word "offered up" is the same that is used for slaying and offering up sacrifices. Here then is the problem: how could Abraham "offer up" his son by faith, seeing that it was against both the law of nature and the law of God for a man to slay his own son? Genesis 22:2, however, shows that his faith had a sure foundation to rest upon, for the Lord Himself had commanded him so to do. But this only appears to remove the difficulty one stage farther back: God Himself had laid it down as a law that "whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed" (Gen. 9:6). True, but though His creatures are bound by the laws He has prescribed them, God Himself is not.(Faith of Abe). One source of clashes is caused when history teaches us that the toxins of power eventually work on the minds of the high priest in chief until the priest confuses himself with God and eventually becomes a sovereign too, as agent of God, unable to do any wrong.
God is under no law, but is absolute Sovereign.
Should you want to bone up on faith, Dredd Blog touched upon the subject of faith in the context of it being a vaccime in the recent post: V: The Evolution of The Vaccime.
Another reason Rambo is the Dredd Blog choice as the poet laureate of MOMCOM is because of what is said of the poet's work:
Rimbaud and Verlaine were engaged in a drink - and drug - filled binge that drove them both to the edge of sanity. They were living in filth and violence at the fringes of society, all in the name of a greater poetic truth ... The poems are no less fiery today than when he first wrote them. I say fiery because that is what Rimbaud's writing does, it burns.(Being Mod Is Not Just Snuffing Out). The oil-drug binge and the filth of the pollution to our garden home planet, together MOMCOM causes with the violence of the oil wars "at the fringes of society", just beyond "the edge of sanity", qualifies Rambo as MOMCOM's poet laureate with red, white, and blue flying colors.
The slash and burn philosophy of MOMCOM is also well represented in the Rambo body of poetry that is "fiery" to the point that "it burns".
