The Dredd Gene is atomic |
Dredd Blog has used the notions of memetics from "day one" (The Memes of Penrose; The Toxic Bridge To Everywhere; A Structure RE: Corruption of Memes).
In a quote below, the "father" of the U.S. Constitution uses "meme-speak" when he calls war a "germ" that generates more "germs".
Check it out, because during cognitive pandemics a special meme is given heightened consideration:
"vaccime
(pron. vak-seem) Any meta-meme which confers resistance or immunity to one or more memes, allowing that person to be exposed without acquiring an active infection ... Common [vaccimes] are "Faith", "Loyalty", "Skepticism", and "tolerance" ... Every [meme complex] includes a vaccime to protect against rival memes."
(The Memetic Lexicon). This type of discourse in conversations is, meme or not, genetic and atomic.
Memetically speaking, regular readers may know that microbiologists have determined that the Dredd gene enhances the immune system of readers:
"We have isolated loss-of-function mutations in the caspase encoding gene dredd, which block the expression of all genes that code for peptides with antibacterial activity. These mutations also render [targets of memes] highly susceptible to infection by Gram-negative bacteria. Our results demonstrate that Dredd regulates antibacterial peptide gene expression, and we propose that Dredd ... is required to resist Gram-negative bacterial infections."
(Dredd is required to resist Gram-negative bacterial infection, a published scientific paper, emphasis memes added). Now let's get down to brass tacks.
The Dredd Gene gives readers an advantage over the war germ:
"Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops
the germ of every other.
War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing
the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied: and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people.
The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a
state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals, engendered by both.
Those truths are well established."
(American Feudalism; Extinction: Peace, emphasis added). The war germ projection comes along with The Dredd Gene package.
The Dredd Gene is described in scientific detail in a GenBank file:
