Awe Topsy - 9

A day in the life strife

This series is about doing an autopsy on the reaction to election results, and more specifically to overblown reactions which infer that the election was a glorious success (for example):

"Portions of the media have praised the voters for saving democracy by keeping the Democrats in charge of the Senate, but seem to not take note of the fact that the Democrats lost the house ("by a very small margin").

The loss of the House is a major event, because the government budget begins there, continuation of government paychecks and funding can be stopped there, and Bengazi / Hunter Biden, and other significant events take place there (such as not going along with the Senate in legislation events).

Of course if they get too wacky the Democratic controlled Senate will not take up their bills, nor will the Democratic President sign their crazy stuff.

Nevertheless, the election denying, abortion denying, and gerrymandering Supreme Court and House can cause a world of hurt."

(Awe Topsy - 7). The "political science" reality is that any one branch of the U.S. Government can do immense damage when careless, radical, less than honest, and corrupt members emerge in controlling positions.

The current Republican led House only enacted 22 bills over the past year, the second-lowest in history, the all-time lowest is 21 (History).

They made unique history by throwing out their 'leader' and by voting in a new one who seems to be a bit strange in some ways (New House speaker Mike Johnson praised ‘18th-century values’ in speech, 1 Must-Read Quote From New Speaker of the House Mike Johnson on Social Security).

He also wants to impeach Biden for who knows what (House votes to formalize impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden with floor vote).

Europe and the rest of the world "have their ears on", and are wondering why the media here was so ecstatic about the previous election (Will Elections Cure The Disease?, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).

The next post in this series is here, the previous post in this series is here.

  1. I don't remember the exact quote, but Mary Trump said something to effect of, "We can't keep having these 'critical elections to save democracy' every damn election from now on. Sooner or later, the bad guys are gonna' win, and bye bye democracy."

My words, but HER essential thought.

  2. But ... but ... "Top American officials in the 'national security' establishment are notably good at smooth rhetoric and convenient silences. Their scant regard for truth or human life has changed remarkably little since 1971 when Daniel Ellsberg risked decades in prison to leak the Pentagon Papers to the world. During the years between then and his death six months ago, he was a tireless writer, speaker, and activist ... One day in 1995, I called Dan and suggested he run for president. His reply was instant: “I’d rather be in prison.” He explained that, unlike typical candidates, he couldn’t stand to offer opinions on subjects he really knew little or nothing about" (Link).
