Cognition, like its containment entity the body, is composed of both external and internal containment entities (see example here).

By "external" containment entities I mean, for example, cultural propaganda (The Ways of Bernays).

By "internal" containment, for example, I mean 'self-control' (Cognition in Psychology) or sub-conscious dynamics ("98% of cognition is subconscious").

In terms of external containment entities which can have a containment effect on cognition across a culture, the link at Fig. 2 shows that even the U.S. Military can and does partake of containment efforts under certain conditions (e.g. Will The Military Become The Police?, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).

Noam Chomsky used a phrase "It wouldn't do to say" which indicates an awareness of a cultural containment entity that would negatively react to what a person might say (The Third Pole Water Line - 2, first video at bottom of the post; cf. this).

Even in the "science" of cosmology everything is said to have come from a tiny containment entity which did a "bigga bada boom" (Quantum Biology - 9).

It seems to me that since the "cognition" graph (Fig. 1) looks like ocean heat and atmospheric heat graphs, we need to learn more about what forms cognition (The Pillars of Knowledge: Faith and Trust?) eh?

Failure to do so has led to the act of 'suicide' by previous civilizations (How To Identify The Despotic Minority - 14).
