They're already using "false flag" blog posters and the like to infiltrate and affect controversial blog sites. Hey, the spooks do that kind of stuff for a living and they're damn good at it. You can bet any denial of service in the US will be several orders of magnitude more sophisticated than any thing they did in Egypt, although Egypt will no doubt be studied as a real world test case for future such misadventures. Of course the response in the US will be a good deal more sophisticated as well, so it will be game on when that day comes.

Personally, when the US government begins to resort to such extreme measures, that will signal the final collapse has officially begun. There will almost certainly be no turning back from such extreme measures, although you can be sure they'd try to seek cover by blaming it on a false flag actor. Not that that story line would work for long however.

Far more likely that they'll simply target liberal bloggers or groups for disruption and/or amplify the noise of pro government bloggers/groups, much as FOX News and Rush Limbaugh do now. In the end, disinformation is SO MUCH more effective than denial of information and much more insidious too. Plus, with the Patriot Act comfortably in place, why shut down the internet when you can secretly spy on its users, gain information on their activities, and then lock them up for good with no charges whatsoever, never to be heard from again? What's not to love?NowhereManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12745173041874539711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1039161489041752842.post-72829738167073429572011-02-03T06:51:58.422-06:002011-02-03T06:51:58.422-06:00CB radio? Ya got your ears on?

Never thought I'd hear that jargon make a comeback.

I hear there's a bill still in circulation that would give POTUS the kill switch. I'm thinking when it gets that bad, the internet won't be the only one getting killed. And I have no doubt that such a bill will get passed soon enough and that it will be used sometime shortly thereafter. The handwriting's on the wall.NowhereManhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12745173041874539711noreply@blogger.com
