This is not a story from the gaslight cafe:
"... 'King tide' is not a scientific term, nor is it used in a scientific context.
The expression originated in Australia in 2009, to describe especially high tides that occur a few times per year. It is now used in North America as well ..."
(Wikipedia, emphasis added). Fresh gaslighting brought to America for free and for one purpose: gaslighting the public.
To counter the Oil-Qaeda inspired gaslighting, graphs were presented in the previous posts of this series, but in today's post, the list of tide gauge stations has been simplified (Appendices: Countries, A-C, D-G, I-L, M-R, S-T, U-V).
| Fig. 2 Both Coasts |
Today's post narrows the appendices of graphs down to countries with at least two tide gauge stations registered in the PSMSL database.
It debunks the bathtub model more clearly when sea level fall and sea level rise are contrasted.
Also, the list of countries with two or more tide gauge stations has been alphabetized to make selecting a country to focus on easier.
In the current Supreme Court Case which involves:
“We are well beyond the time when climate harms loomed in some distant future; instead, communities are dealing right now, and regularly, with climate-enhanced floods, heat waves, catastrophic fires, sea level rise, and other problems. These problems are expensive to manage, and states and localities bear the brunt of the costs, stretching their very limited budgets. With these court cases, communities and states allege that fossil fuel companies got us into this mess in part through consumer deception and other violations of state law, by concealing the harms of their products — and should therefore be on the hook to help pay for some of these costs.”
(The Legal Planet Guide to Suncor Energy v. County Commissioners of Boulder County). The law professors who discuss the case that may be decided soon are well aware of the "cost of living" increases as we continue to increase global warming and its widespread destruction.
