May Day! May Day!

On Earth Day when the British Petroleum (BP) oil rig, the Deepwater Horizon, blew up, it changed Earth Day to May Day! May Day!

Then BP (MOMCOM) did what the Obama Administration has been doing, in that it followed the W compass to a certain location, a location known as Sugarland.

Sugarland, Texas makes killer chemicals that hide oil from you like banksters hyde your public money from you.

These chemicals, made in Sugarland by Nalco, are worse for the ocean environment than the oil is, but what is important to MOMCOM is that the oil disappear from your sight yesterday.

MOMCOM has gone to the land of chemical death for some potions for its voodoo environmental religion.

Now MOMCOM realizes what has happened, that she-it has been found out, she-it is hated, and MOMCOM "clean" energy ads are now known to be lies.

Since MOMCOM has a complex, this episode of spill baby spill is one she-it can not handle, and so she-it is going even more psycho than before.

The U.S. government has also gone into panic propaganda mode because MOMCOM can not keep a lid on this one.

The oil slick size and growth pattern indicates to some experts that the oil gushing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico is already nearing the Exxon Valdez spill size.

So when full panic hit, MOMCOM obeyed the W incantation spewed just after 9/11, and went shopping:
Officials from BP have successfully tested a chemical that attaches itself to oil and weighs it down [lead based heavy?] to the ocean floor, where there are natural forces [bull crap] that absorb the oil, CNBC has learned.

The oil giant BP said it tested the dispersants, which are manufactured by Nalco, last night, and is authorized [who authorized it after one night of testing?] to begin using it on a larger scale.

BP said it is looking for additional suppliers to begin manufacturing the material in mass quantities.

Nalco told CNBC that it is working to increase production at its Sugarland, Texas, plant.
(CNBC, [Dredd comments added]). Tom Delay was the representative to the U.S. House of Representatives from Sugarland, Texas, a small city with arguably the most propagandized Wikipedia page ever to have been bloviated to the size of a New York City wiki about page.

Sugarland went from a slave plantation to a prison farm to a chemical making madhouse which MOMCOM, through BP, the latest Lord of Spill Baby Spill, has put to work overtime.

Sugarland's finest chemical factory, Nalco, is working 24/7 to make oil hiding chemicals that have never been properly tested.

Nalco will probably rev up its operations in Dubai, UAE, just down the street from Halliburton and AIG, to make more death chemicals.

I bet you nostalgic confederate folks in Virginia Beach just can't wait until you have your own true blue Dixie spill can you?

What Next - Katrina's Ghost?

What happens if the Luck of Louisiana continues?

Think about it.

Hurricane season begins June 1.

With their luck, just as they get ready to plug the rogue and mavericky well that is trying to poison their whole state, Katrina on Steroids will hit them.

It will sink the rig drilling the relief hole, and the oil spill will then go up to 10,000 barrels a day leaking out.

There are news reports that another drilling rig has gone tits up today:
Officials say an oil drilling rig on its way to a scrap yard has overturned in Morgan City.

No injuries have been reported.

The rig overturned about 80 miles west-southwest of New Orleans. The Coast Guard said in a news release Friday that the drilling unit overturned in the Charenton navigational canal.

It can carry about 20,000 gallons of diesel fuel, but Coast Guard officials did not know how much fuel was on board. Coast Guard investigators say no fuel leaks have been found.
(NOLA). When it rains it pours, but when oil leaks things get nasty really, really fast and it stays that way a long time.

The Bleep Goes On - Land Ho!

We now have a new word for ourselves; it is "voodoo environmentalism".

No more do we have to wait for the bushies to think up a voodoo thingy like "voodoo economics".

The voodoo oil spill near the Mississippi delta "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico has now reached the shore.

I did a little digging over at the all things environmental propaganda site, paid for by the taxpayers, and came across some of the language that has not been scrubbed yet:
On March 31, 2010, the President and the Secretary announced the Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Strategy as part of President Obama’s comprehensive energy plan for the country. The Department is pursuing a balanced, science-based strategy for exploring and developing oil and gas resources on the Outer Continental Shelf.

The strategy will guide the current 2007-2012 offshore oil and gas leasing program, which is being revised under the Court’s order that one facet of the section 18 analysis was flawed, as well as the new 2012-2017 program that will supersede the 2010-2015 Draft Proposed Program (DPP) issued by the prior Administration.
(Federal Minerals Management Service, emphasis added). So basically the only reason the Obama Administration is not doing exactly what Bush II wanted to do is because a court ordered them not to?

According to that site, it was March 31 when they declared "a balanced, science-based strategy"; which lasted all of three weeks until the Deepwater Horizon exploded, then sank a day or so later, to pollute the world like only an Exxon Valdez oil queen could do.

The Obama Administration ploughed into the fog of offshore drilling at full speed, even though disasters are foreseeable, just like it ploughed into the fog of bailouts at full speed.

Once one enters into the fog, a whole world of apologies, cover ups, and rationales commence, beginning with "it was not foreseeable", "no one could see this coming" (what about the Earth Day protesters?).

Posts on this blog have shown that these events were foreseeable: Iraq war debacle, the Afghanistan mess and pull-out fantasy, the decline of U.S. reputation in the world, the financial crisis, and this environmental disaster, all were foreseeable.

But when an administration will not consider sound foreign or domestic policy, it is bound to blunder into situations where that administration's best friend is propaganda.

Yes, see through propaganda that damages a nation.

UPDATE: Here is a link to Daily Kos where some proof of the brain damage that has been done to the right wingnuts is being discussed.

UPDATE 2: The U.S. government has banned offshore drilling, to some extent, until they find out what caused the ongoing catastrophe (clue: you caused it by poo pooing the warnings year after year ... remember those "tired arguments" you said we are making Obama?).

Spill Baby Spill - 3

President Obama is ok with offshore drilling, caving in to the cave men who say "it is so easy with this new technology, even a caveman can do it".

When will people learn that if a neoCon's mouth is moving lies are spilling out?

Spill baby spill.

Sarah Palin, who knows that the Exxon Valdez oil poison is still stinking deep into the pristine Alaska wilderness, has been saying the same thing, causing a fever of ignorance to spread like a deadly oil spill in some southern states.

When the neoCons get excited enough to send poster bitches around running their mouths, you can be sure that some disaster is going to happen.

Over a year ago, near the date of the Exxon Valdez anniversary, we mentioned oil spill lies:
The native people had sold their land to the military oil complex for one dollar on the promise that the oilsters would be very careful and take care of the environment.

Well, forked man speaks with white tongue, so the oil company of course violated the agreement.

The Exxon Valdez's radar had not been working for a very long time, and was not even activated on that fateful day. The oil robber barons were not careful, so once again the native Americans were wronged by the oil crusaders.

To this day there is still oil on beaches in that vast pristine area. Since no one comes to look very much, the oil companies have gotten away with it.

And the judges of some of the courts, possibly beholding to the oil companies in "prior lifetimes" in some way, have cut the damages Exxon has to pay down to a small percentage of the original jury awards.

The addiction to oil continues like a plague.
(Spill Baby Spill). Then near enough to that anniversary this year, we had the oil spill that may surpass Exxon Valdez, so we posted:
Now we have another major disaster off the coast near New Orleans (where about 90% of the close-to-shore rigs were wiped out or shut down by hurricane Katrina and Rita, and many other rigs not close to shore were disrupted or destroyed by Katrina and Rita).

In the disaster this week, one of the Cadillacs of oil drilling rigs built in 2001, the Deepwater Horizon, exploded and sank (after about 20 years of what Obama called significant technological improvements to drilling rigs).

Those who are ignorant of the dangers facing humanity like to say drill baby drill, but the real story is Spill Baby Spill.
(Spill Baby Spill - 2). Now we are hearing that the "Sarah Palin Spill" (named in honor of Her Sarahness & Her Sarahness) is 500% worse than originally estimated:
Government officials said late Wednesday night that oil might be leaking from a well in the Gulf of Mexico at a rate five times that suggested by initial estimates.

In a hastily called news conference, Rear Adm. Mary E. Landry of the Coast Guard said a scientist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had concluded that oil is leaking at the rate of 5,000 barrels a day, not 1,000 as had been estimated.
(NY Times). They must be using the same computer programs that calculate the deficit?

One factor that has so far not emerged through the fog of Spill is the damage to state economies this could bring.

The Exxon Valdez spill was 10.8 million U.S. gallons (257,143 bbl) so this one has a ways to go if it is spilling 210,000 gallons (5,000 bbl) a day.

It would take maybe a couple of months to equal the Exxon Valdez spill, but their estimates may be low even after a second guess.

The thing is growing exponentially, and if it hits the beaches, good by tourism, a serious economic consideration there; good by fisheries, another serious economic threat.

It could hurt states already in trouble financially.

According to the NY Times article quoted above, the Department of Defense was put on notice to be prepared to help if BP can't handle it.

So here comes another bailout?

MOMCOM To Drill Or Glow In The Dark?

There seems to be a blind rush to madness on the part of national governments.

Sometimes it seems that governments are trying to see who can destroy civilization first.

Is that the way we define the most advanced nations these daze?

A book was just published that points out one way to have "bling energy" glowing in the dark (along with anything else that gets too close):
Nearly one million people around the world died from exposure to radiation released by the 1986 nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl reactor, finds a new book from the New York Academy of Sciences published today on the 24th anniversary of the meltdown at the Soviet facility.

The book, "Chernobyl: Consequences of the Catastrophe for People and the Environment," was compiled by authors Alexey Yablokov of the Center for Russian Environmental Policy in Moscow, and Vassily Nesterenko and Alexey Nesterenko of the Institute of Radiation Safety, in Minsk, Belarus.
(Chernobyl, emphasis added). Yet the U.S. government is granting more permits than ever to build more of these deadly engines just so things can glow in the dark.

The U.S. government has also decided to grant more permits than ever to drill baby drill off the coasts, even while one of the most advanced drilling rigs exploded to glow in the dark, then sank along with the myth of their ability to drill without any problems.

President Obama went for the flashy gadgets MOMCOM was wearing and selling, and agreed to do some dancing in the moonlight with MOMCOM.

What is next, Mr. President, triage for the masses?

Photos taken from space by NASA show that the oil spill is into the dead zone already.

The dead zone is a lifeless area of the Gulf of Mexico just off the Mississippi River Delta.

It is caused by fertilizers made from petroleum being placed on crops at farms along the rivers that flow into the mighty Mississippi.

The runoff water is contaminated with those fertilizers so when it reaches the Gulf of Mexico, it kills everything in the water and on the bottom.

I Can Haz Sum More Warz Now?

I thought of the photo of that funny cat when I read this on a link yesterday:
"A North Korean torpedo attack was the most likely cause for the sinking of a South Korean warship last month, according to a U.S. military official.

The United States believes the ship was sunk by the blast of an underwater explosion, but that the explosive device itself did not come in contact with the hull of the South Korean ship, the official said. This is the same conclusion expressed by South Korean military officials.

The U.S. Navy has an investigative team assisting the South Koreans.

The U.S. official declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter and due to the fact neither South Korea or the United States has publicly discussed any potential response."
(CNN, emphasis added). It seems to me that this will test the MOMCOM world nanny foreign policy.

We have had a large military presence in South Korea for half a century now, so have we trained them to fiend for themselves, or do they need another half century?

Some would say that if we can't "nanny up" in 50 years, forget it, pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq now, because our nanny protocol has gone wanting, like the 26 million or so Americans who have lost jobs, homes, health care, and hope.

The lack of the beating of the tom-toms and rattling of sabres on the MOMCOM news is probably a sign that they have not decided what to do yet?

Thanks Bill & Arianna

Dredd Blog thanks Arianna Huffington and Bill Maher for their statements about the 800 lb. gorilla in the Treasury room.

I mean, they have been critical of war spending, while at the same time pointing out how the MSM is treating it like a sacred rite.

MOMCOM is glorified in the media, even as she devastates our reputation in the world and our economy at home.

Arianna made it plain:
See if you can identify the bleeding heart liberal who said this:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Noam Chomsky? Michael Moore? Bernie Sanders?

Nope, it was that unrepentant lefty, five-star general Dwight Eisenhower, in 1953, just a few months after taking office -- a time when the economy was booming and unemployment was 2.7 percent.

Yet today, while America's economy sputters down the road to recovery and the middle class struggles to make ends meet -- with over 26 million people unemployed or underemployed and record numbers of homes being lost to foreclosure -- the "guns vs. butter" argument isn't even part of the national debate. Of course, today, the argument might be more accurately framed as "ICBM nukes, Predator drones, and missile defense shields vs. jobs, affordable college, decent schools, foreclosure prevention, and fixing the gaping holes in our social safety net."
(Guns v Butter 2010, emphasis added). Bill Maher was on point with some added criticism of MOMCOM ideology:
Everything that goes into defense costs us about a trillion dollars a year, most of which goes into fighting the Russians in 1978. Fighter planes for all those dog fights we get into with the Taliban, submarines to foil their evil plot to blow up our ships with car bombs, and space lasers to shoot down their exploding underpants ... scream about handouts, this is what they should be protesting.
(Bill Maher Blasts Teabaggers). Exactly, as Dredd Blog has been saying ad nauseum it was beginning to seem.

The Dead Zone - Child of MOMCOM

The dead zone was already scaring scientists before the Earth Day tragedy was created by the oil barons of MOMCOM.

Like careless Octomom's evil twin, MOMCOM is reproducing death and destruction instead of good things, and doing so as if she was taking hormones with steroids mixed in.

The dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico is one of MOMCOM's offspring that she threw in the dumpster, not wanting anyone to know it was her progeny:
In the space of a few dozen yards, one of America´s most productive fisheries becomes startlingly devoid of fish below the upper water layers. Shrimp disappear, too, and so do crabs and anything else that swims. A wall of dead water spreads westward across the floor of the Gulf of Mexico, beginning at this point near the Mississippi Delta, stretching as far as the Texas border and reaching up the water column toward the boats on the surface. On this breezeless August day, it covers an area the size of Connecticut.
(National Wildlife). What is up with MOMCOM's religion that only expands death and destruction everywhere, as she sometimes exclaims "I am fighting evil and bringing security to you all"?

This mad bitch has got to go down by our will, or we will go down by her will:
The spill ... now covers 400 square miles, and may grow as the well spews 42,000 more gallons of oil per day at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, Coast Guard Rear Adm. Mary Landry said Saturday.

"This is a very serious spill," she said at a news conference updating the situation.

Word of the expanding spill came as the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig was found capsized and lying on the sea floor about 1,500 feet northwest of the well, located roughly 40 miles off the coast of Louisiana, the Coast Guard said.
(SF Chronicle). She is very promiscuous in the Gulf, but had promised Obama that she had improved her contraceptive skills.

She intimated that she would not get pregnant with death again: "the offshore areas are safe for drilling Barry, be a good bi-partisan kid and let us drill baby drill", she hissed about her precious.

Barry fell for it, as if he was not one of those "childrens" Bush II was talking about when he "famously" said "childrens do learn".

C'mon Barry, was it the compass he gave you that so endears him to you?

Spill Baby Spill - 2

"It was twenty years ago today Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play" ...

It was also about twenty years ago that the Exxon Valdez spilled oil which covered a large area of Alaska.

The oil, in substantial portion, is still there polluting the environment.

The justices on the U.S. Supreme Court let ExxonMobil off the hook by substantially lowering the damages that had been awarded by an Alaska court.

The search for missing crewmen and the containment of a major oil spill are still under way.

UPDATE: The U.S. Coast Guard has now verified that this is a major spill:
For days, the Coast Guard has said no oil appeared to be escaping from the well head on the ocean floor. Rear Adm. Mary Landry said the leak was a new discovery but could have begun when the rig sank on Thursday, two days after the initial explosion.

"We thought what we were dealing with as of yesterday was a surface residual (oil) from the mobile offshore drilling unit," Landry said. "In addition to that is oil emanating from the well. It is a big change from yesterday ... This is a very serious spill, absolutely."
(Huffington Post). Oilah Akbar! Oilah Akbar! is the religion of the oil barons who preach one thing but deliver the death of civilization.

Before this spill we talked about the inane decision to allow drilling offshore, which President Obama alluded to as "tired arguments of long ago".

Start up the word grinders Press Secretary Fibbs (successor to Snotty and Snow Job) and see if you can out do the neoCons with propaganda.

The next post in this series is here, the previous post in this series is here.
