New Continent Found - Garbage Gyre II - 5

Who is filling the oceans with garbage?
Regular readers know that Dredd Blog has been talking about the "garbage gyres", which are relatively unknown phenomena, located in the oceans.

And that Dredd Blog has been discussing them for years now.

On March 25, 2009 we posted Garbage Garbage Garbage about "that something" a lot of people were unaware of.

Following that post, Dredd Blog then began this current series with New Continent Found - Garbage Gyre II on August 29, 2009, continuing to add posts to the list, then finally posting New Continent Found - Garbage Gyre II - 4 recently; all of which continued the shocking story of what we are doing to our oceans.

These Dredd Blog posts have been popular because we are talking about oceans that we must have for life to survive on our home planet, the Earth.
Surfing Waves of Garbage

During the famed Americas Cup yacht races Dredd Blog continued the theme by pointing out the sad reality that those yachts had to sail through some of those garbage gyres (The Gyres, The America's Cup & Medals).

More recently, an expedition looked into effects of the phenomenon as it is impacting Alaska (Alaskan Beaches Blighted) while others have looked at the ocean bottom (Life on the Ocean Floor Garbage Patch).

Since we started this series of revelations, two websites now exist to specifically deal with garbage gyres (see GYRE and Five Gyres).

You are welcome.
