Warriors Press For Propaganda - 3

This series began with a post which quoted the head of the Associated Press (AP) who had made a dramatic statement about the American press: "The Bush administration turned the U.S. military into a global propaganda machine" (Warriors Press For Propaganda).

If you think about it, that journalist was blaming the government for the fact that the press allowed itself to turn into a propaganda publishing profession.

The U.S. main stream media (MSM) was in bed with the military (remember "embedded journalists" in Iraq and Afghanistan?) publishing what the military propaganda masters told them too.

That is an abrogation of the duty of the free press, which is protected by the First Amendment.

They have a duty not to carry the water for the propagandists, yet they willingly did so and still do.

Rupert Murdoch is the heart and soul of today's for-profit "journalism", and his empire acts just like Big Brother of Orwellian infamy, or the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover:
First, there are the Dan Cooper allegations. Cooper is a former Fox employee who in 2008 wrote a blog post alleging that Ailes (or someone working for him) sought to harass liberal journalist and founder of Media Matters for America David Brock by securing copies of his telephone records and ensuring that Cooper served as a source for Brock on a story the latter was writing for New York magazine. Cooper also alleges that Ailes called up his agent, Richard Leibner, and demanded Leibner stop representing Cooper, lest audition tapes sent over to Fox by Leibner—the leading TV-personality agent in New York, apparently—mysteriously end up gathering dust. Finally there was a more general allegation that somewhere in the bowels of 1211 Sixth Avenue, the News Corp. building, there is some kind of “black ops” room, where oppo research is done on people Fox doesn’t like. Cooper says he knows because he designed it himself.
(Daily Beast). It is difficult to tell the main stream news media from a propaganda engine of Big Brother.

Because there isn't any difference.

When Is It Our Turn? - 2

The following was posted on Dredd Blog two years ago on this date.

Why isn't there enough money (in our nation that has many voices who like to brag about it being the most wealthy nation) for us to be healthy?

Do you sincerely think congress would be bombarded with lobbyists and all manner of wild-eyed corporatists (if war making weaponry was the subject of debate) yelling and screaming "it will bust the budget"?

So, since congress is being frantically bombarded with lobbyist voodoo at the moment, the subject matter being debated must be something good for the middle class?

Like national health care reform?

The military oil complex has had its way with all the money it wants for a long, long time and the world is anything but safer, healthier, and more secure.

The fundamentalist warsters think pointing a weapon at people under the threat of death is the way to peace, health, happiness, and prosperity.

Yes, they seem to think that people just love war minded soldiers, and want to invite hundreds of thousands of them to their country soon to shoot the place up and destroy its prosperity.

Yeah right.

Not only are they deluded, but they are evangelizing their delusions, packaging and huckstering the delusions on bumper sticker one liners, big TV campaigns, and continuing to bring misery upon the nation and upon the earth with a sales system they also use to sell tooth paste.

A trillion dollars a year for the basic military, then hundreds of billions more for the two wars, then billions more to take care of the mentally and physically ruined in the wars, and they want more so they can bring more misery to themselves and everyone else.

When does climate safety and security get a chance, the poor and needy, international space treaties and synchronized efforts for the future of mankind, 50,000 children starving each day, millions homeless, and millions more homeless and ill, get a turn?

A poor man with a child on an electric asthma machine is denied more electricity, so the heat wave kills him and all his children in the house when the cold hearted profit minded corporation denies relief over a mere pittance; meanwhile relief in the hundreds of billions of dollars in TARP money is given to the rich.

When do the cosmic adults evolve into the picture?
Concerning the subject matter of that post, not much has changed in two years.

On The Size of "Government" - 3

In this series we have been discussing the size of U.S. government, in the sense of it being not too big and not too small, in order to accomplish its valid and proper purpose and mission.

What we are finding out is that certain portions of "government" have grown grotesquely out of proportion to the rest of government, throwing the nation out of balance and out of kilter.

The medical photo to the left is an example of a case of elephantiasis of the scrotum which we use to illustrate the concept of a particular, specific imbalance of government, because we think that the government has elephantiasis in some of its member departments:
Limbs can swell so enormously that they resemble an elephant's foreleg in size, texture, and color.

This is the severely disfiguring and disabling condition of elephantiasis.
(Elephantiasis). This disease can result in one leg or arm becoming five or so times the normal size it should be if it was not diseased.

Some members of booyah government like to brag that their members have a lot of balls, but this has gone overboard into sheer madness.

What if the Social Security Administration, a government department, had offices (balls) everywhere the military does?

It would have 800 - 1000 office building complexes around the world in foreign nations.

The press would be the blind men around the elephant, an incompetent physician, never reporting the military disease so that it could be cured, rather they would say social security is the problem.

The press should not be participating in cover up of the oil wars like a loin cloth to perpetuate the national addiction to toxic hydrocarbons that are killing human life support systems, as well as helping to bankrupt the nation.

The Social Security Administration has served hundreds of millions of people, those who are employed now as well as those who are now collecting on their insurance policies.

The elephantiasis infected military has a tiny fraction of personnel in uniform by comparison to citizens involved with social security.

Yet the military has thousands of more facilities all around the world, and the military spends more taxpayer dollars than all the other military forces in all the other nations combined (classic elephantiasis!).

The Social Security Administration is quite efficient and economically healthy by comparison.

Embryonic Look At Civilization's Future - 4

One of the purposes of this series is to inform us that "global warming", "global climate change", or "global weather weirding" is something that has been happening for a long time now.

Those posts also point out the common myth fostered by the MOMCOM media that global climate change is something that may happen way off in the distant future.

We pointed out that was wrong; really, really, really WRONG:
The longer term policy of the governments of the world condemns them as criminals:
In 1959 physicist Gilbert Plass warned in Scientific American that increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was causing climate change. In 1965 President Lyndon Johnson warned Congress of the risk. In 1979 the U.S. National Academy of Sciences warned against a wait-and-see attitude ...
(Scientific American). The catastrophes that will kill millions were caused by a criminal attitude which identifies current civilization's governments.
(New Government Climate Change Policy). That same magazine which in 1959 pointed out that climate change was already taking place back then, has now made it clear to those who still have foggy notions:
The evidence is in: global warming has caused severe floods, droughts and storms ... More violent and frequent storms, once merely a prediction of climate models, are now a matter of observation.
(Scientific American, June 30, 2011). As if that was not bad enough, other catastrophes are here now, and it is also ugly:
A high-level international workshop convened by IPSO met at the University of Oxford earlier this year. It was the first inter-disciplinary international meeting of marine scientists of its kind and was designed to consider the cumulative impact of multiple stressors on the ocean, including warming, acidification, and overfishing.

The 3 day workshop, co-sponsored by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), looked at the latest science across different disciplines.

The 27 participants from 18 organisations in 6 countries produced a grave assessment of current threats — and a stark conclusion about future risks to marine and human life if the current trajectory of damage continues: that the world's ocean is at high risk of entering a phase of extinction of marine species unprecedented in human history.
(State of The Ocean, emphasis added). Grave threats to human life is serious is it not?

Last year, last month, last week, and yesterday the global weather weirding killed people and other life, so it is not just a potential threat, nor is it the only ever present real danger here and now in The Sixth Mass Extinction.

Read about the nut jobs in Washington, D.C. who think that a lie trumps scientific observation.

The next post in this series is here, the previous post is here.
